Advertising to find an apartment
Many
newspapers and local magazines have their rental section. For help in
deciphering all the abbreviations as well as the French system to count the
number of rooms in the apartment, consult our glossary. If the word particulier
appears in the ad , it means that you probably deal directly with the owner
(and not an agency).
Many
publications sometimes allow you to place an ad requesting a house, even if you
intend to do it for free. However it is not very likely to work, the owner will
hardly call you. Although this works if you are looking to share an apartment.
The most popular sources.
The particular
a particular is published every Tuesday filled with classified ads directly
from individuals. The properties are classified in type and areas. You can buy
it in magazine stands or check the Internet www.pap.fr (in English, French,
Spanish and Portuguese)
FUSAC
(France-USA Contacts) It is a very popular newspaper classified in English. It
is published every 2 weeks, you can find it in several places where you can
find English speaking people (Irish and English pubs, churches, Smith
bookshops, etc.) There is also an on-line edition: www.fusac.fr (in English and
French)
Le Figaro is
one of the French newspapers with the greatest coverage. They have a long
section of classifieds (it has a good reputation for its French, so it's a good
way to practice it.)
